Collections
Transactions can be made at Maurice City Hall, 405 Lastie Ave., Maurice, Louisiana, 70555.
Please bring bill with exact amount when paying in cash.
If paying by mail or if payment is put in night drop box, please include stub with payment.
DO NOT PUT CASH IN THE NIGHT DROP BOX.
Billing
Bills are mailed the last working day of the month and reflect service already received.
If you do not receive your bill within the time it is due, you are responsible for notifying the office.
Payments
PAYMENT DUE UPON RECEIPT OF YOUR BILL.
Late Charges
A twenty percent (20%) late charge will apply if payment is not received on or before the twentieth (20th) of the month.
Delinquent Date
The net amount due becomes delinquent on the twenty-first (21st) of each month.
Disconnections
All customers who receive a letter of disconnect, payment must be remitted to our office by the date listed on the letter, if not your meter will be disconnected.
NO FURTHER NOTICE OR EXCEPTIONS WILL BE GIVEN.
Reconnections
If service has been disconnected due to delinquency, the full amount owed including a hundred dollar ($100.00) disconnect/reconnect fee must be paid before service can be reconnected.
New Installations
New water/sewer connection fees:
- A Standard ¾ inch meter – $1,100.00
- A I” inch meter – $1 ,400.00
- A 2″ inch meter – $ 1,800.00
Returned Item Charge
A twenty-five dollar ($25.00) charge will be accessed for any returned items by a banking institution.
Deposits
All utility customers are required to pay a one hundred fifty dollar ($150.00) deposit to have services turned on. At the time services are disconnected permanently the deposit less any amount owed is refunded to the utility customer.
Water Rates
Residential
$16.00 per month minimum for the first 2,000 gallons, then $5.35 per 1,000 gallons thereafter
Commercial
$21.00 per month minimum for the first 2,000 gallons, then $5.60 per 1,000 gallons thereafter
Sewer Rates
$12.00 per month minimum for the first 2000 gallons, then $6.66 per 1,000 gallons thereafter
The Town of Maurice is NOT responsible for water leaks beyond their side of the meter.
There is no piggybacking, or supplying more than one residence or structure from one water meter. A meter is to service only one household or structure.
In general, each residence or structure that has a separate electric meter shall have a separate water meter.
Anyone caught supplying water to any other household besides their own will lose their membership and the meter will be disconnected.
Anyone caught tampering with the meter or meter box cover will lose their membership and the meter will be disconnected.

General Meetings
Meetings are held every 3rd Wednesday of the month at 6:00PM. Agendas are posted at our municipal building and at the Maurice post office. Minutes are published in the Abbeville Meridional, the Maurice Meeting Room, and the Maurice Post Office.
Notice is hereby given pursuant to Article 7, Section 23( C ) of the Louisiana Constitution
and R.S. 47:1705(B) that a public hearing of the Town of Maurice will be held at its regular meeting place, Maurice City Hall Municipal Building located at 405 Lastie Avenue, Maurice, LA on August 21, 2024 at 6:00p.m. to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rates after reassessment and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum. The estimated amount of tax revenues to be collected in the next year from the increased millage is $67,280.54, and the amount of increase in taxes attributable to the millage increase is $5,241.22.
